About The CAHPThe California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP) is a labor association that works to improve working conditions for California Highway Patrol officers. Ninety-nine percent of CHP officers elect to become CAHP members. The CAHP represents approximately 8,500 active and 5,200 retired California Highway Patrolmen. We are one of the few labor organizations that continue to represent members throughout their retirement. WHAT DOES THE CAHP DO FOR ITS MEMBERS?The CAHP has various functions, the largest of which is to represent members in negotiations with the State of California for Memorandum of Understanding (conditions of employment). We also advocate for legislation regarding law and order issues and employment benefits for our members. Our Member Benefits Division maintains the CAHP Health Benefits Trust as a nonprofit entity established to provide health insurance to our membership. We are able to offer such great benefits with a relatively low premium because our members' premiums pay the claims without any profit margin built into the rates. We also maintain Dental and Long Term Disability Insurance Trusts, both of which operate in the same manner. In addition to this website, the Association produces the ABP, a monthly newsletter to keep our members and their families informed of important issues. Finally, the CAHP maintains two nonprofit, charitable entities. The CAHP Widows & Orphans' Trust Fund is designed to help families of deceased CAHP members and officers killed in the line of duty from allied agencies. The CAHP Foundation funds scholarships for eligible children of CAHP members. OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORSCHP offices are divided into five districts, and each district has at least one elected director who is an officer. We also have a director for supervisors and a director for retirees. Jon Hamm is the Association's CEO. The following are a list of current directors:
