Those donating to the Widows & Orphans' Trust fund during the month of April 2013.
The Widows and Orphans' Trust Fund provides death benefits for Association members, whether they are active or retired. A one-time benefit of up to $2,400 is paid, almost immediately, to the member's surviving spouse and dependents. If a member has no spouse or dependent children, financial assistance may be paid to adult, non-dependent children to help with funeral costs. In July 2007, trustees of the Widows and Orphans' Trust Fund agreed to increase the death benefit to $10,000 for survivors of CAHP members killed in the line-of-duty.
When an in the line of duty death occurs in an allied law enforcement agency, the trust fund makes a donation to the officer's surviving spouse or dependent children.
