6. What if I have a new long-term drug prescription that needs to be filled for the first time?
You will need to ask your physician to write two prescriptions to start you off ? a 30-day prescription to take to the retail pharmacy and a 90-day prescription to send in to the mail order pharmacy. That way you can start taking the medication immediately and will not have to wait until you receive your 90-day prescription in the mail.

7. What if I have an existing maintenance prescription that I have been filling at the retail pharmacy?
You will need to ask your physician to write you a new prescription for up to 90 days for the Medco Health mail order pharmacy?s use. That prescription can be mailed directly to Medco Health using a special mail order envelope provided by us. Note: This procedure is necessary because by law, retail pharmacies cannot supply the mail service pharmacy with an existing prescription; the new pharmacy must receive a new prescription written by your physician.
