To qualify, you must be a dependent, college-age child of an active, retired or deceased California Highway Patrol Officer. If the Highway Patrol Officer has ever been awarded the Medal of Valor, your application will be considered for the Medal of Valor Scholarship Award. In addition, the financially dependent, college-age children of any active California police officer or deputy sheriff are eligible to apply for the Herman L. Lenz Memorial Scholarship. To Apply

1. Fill out the scholarship application. To use the digital signature option, open the application with Adobe Reader (download for free here: https://get.adobe.com/reader). If you are unable to digitally sign the application, you may print and sign it and either scan and email it, or mail it to our office.

2. Write a personal goals statement in essay format. This statement should include your reasons for attending college and a description of how you plan to use your education.

3. Submit the application and  personal goals statement to info@thecahp.org or mail them to:

4. Submit an official school transcript. If transcripts are emailed, they must come from the school, not from the student. Please remember to ask your school for official transcripts as soon as possible. Some school’s registrar offices close for the summer. Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 required to be considered.

Winners will be notified in the fall of 2018.
